It’s Summer Vacation time!

When I was a kid growing up in Minnesota, the end of the school year and the beginning of summer vacation was absolutely the best. The anticipation of our annual family vacation, always two weeks and always starting on the first week out of school, was overwhelming. Being frugal Scandinavians, my parents always drove to our destination by car … no doubt listening to plenty of disagreements between my brother and me as to who took up the most room in the backseat of the station wagon. No flights to distant destinations for this family. Or hotels. Or restaurants. We camped and ate our meals on a picnic table or around a campfire. Simple, adventurous, fun family times that I’m very sure I didn’t appreciate enough then.

It’s those family vacation memories that inspired me to write and illustrate my upcoming book, “Where do Animals go for Vacation?” You can discover the fun places where each one takes their vacation when my book is published at the end of this summer! In the meantime, enjoy YOUR summer vacation!
